How's the job search for the two of you?

Hi John-

Great questions! Your strategy should be on several levels:

Using sites like BlockIslandJobs.com etc to apply for jobs.

Researching island businesses and contacting via email and phone
It's not too early, so start that process now. (For example; Champlins marina has an email address for contact, you can Google for it).

Network with other Block Island job seekers (I see you started that with Domenica)
Housing is a challenge...a big one. As much as you will be contacting employers, you need to be networking with other job seekers about housing. Some employers offer housing but many don't.

Lastly, don't give up. Continue to follow-up with any leads you have. Don't be afraid to leave a follow-up message or two. Be strategic.

Let me know if you have any other questions and let me know where you end up for the summer!

Hi Stephen,

I have a couple questions I wonder if you could answer, you seem to know a lot about working on the Island. What is the best strategie to find something? Do a lot of business's hire through this website, or is it better to get on the phone? Is this the right time to be looking, or is it a bit early? I would like to get something locked down as soon as possible. Thanks so much.

Hey John-

Welcome to my network! Have you checked out The Block Island Club? I know they look for sailing instructors each summer. Might be worth looking into. Keep visiting BlockIslandJobs.com as new jobs will be added soon!
